International Women’s Day: The Reality of Celebrating ALL Women

International Women’s Day: The Reality of Celebrating ALL Women

Today, let us celebrate all women:

Let us be unapologetic, compassionate, fierce, inclusionary, and empathetic.

Let us stand for truth, fight for equality and equity, and be allies to one another.

And most of all, let us embrace this moment, look inward, and celebrate who we

are.

As we pause to reflect on our journeys, we want to remember that there is still work to be done. A lot of work. And while we cheer every time we see an announcement about "the First X [BIPOC or LGBTQ] Woman to be [fill in blank: CEO, Board, etc.]" breaking glass ceilings and systemic issues, we also cringe knowing that these are still firsts. The work we do at RISEQUITY and with our clients, partners and allies, creates more equitable workplaces for everyone. We look forward to the day where we stop seeing these “First Women” as reminders of our painstakingly slow progress, and honor them for what they do as leaders through their accomplishments rather than only by their marginalized identities.

Whether you are attending internal events hosted by your company or attending public programs, we hope you’ll be provocative, challenge perceptions and advocate for ALL women.
